Value Added Ag Foundation

It is the primary goal of the Producers Value-Added Agriculture Foundation to provide educational opportunities for producers to learn about the 'world' of farmer-owned value-added agricultural business through both educational resources and educational activities.

3rd Annual Farmer-Baker Forum
Discovering Value-Added Possibilities;  Linking Wheat Producers to Artisan Bakers

What:  3rd Annual Farmer- Baker Forum

Where:  Central Kansas

Overview:  A forum to bring wheat producers together with the baking industry (artisan bakers) in an effort for both to learn about the needs, abilities and constraints of the other.  A motor coach tour of central Kansas wheat country at harvest, a flour mill and a value-added bakery.  There are also tours at Kansas State University Grain Science Department, USDA Grain Market Research Lab and American Institute of Baking.

Overview:  Registration and coffee at 8:30 a.m. with the business session beginning at 9:00 a.m.  The meeting will be held during the sixteenth annual meeting of Farmer Direct Foods, Inc.  A brief report of foundation activities and finances will be presented.

Overview:  Two workshops to assist Kansans in applying for the Agency's "Value-Added Producer Grant Program".  Information to be presented at the workshops will help agricultural producers and producer groups to develop successful applications for their Value-Added Producer Grant Program which will be available later in this calendar year.

Overview:  A forum to bring together agricultural producers and manufacturers of Asian (food based) products in an effort to educate both groups and to gain understanding within both groups of the value-added opportunities available to their markets.
